Jamie Gunter, MS, LSC, LPC, NCC

I work from a client centered perspective and am passionate about helping others build resilience to cope with adversity, bounce back, and grow stronger. It's okay not to be okay, and it's okay to ask for help. Helping clients build connections, foster wellness, find purpose, and embrace healthy thoughts are all crucial building blocks to achieving personal wellness. My background and focus has included working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families.

My practice is based on connection, relationships, and communication. The client/counselor partnership is based on respect, empathy, honesty, and support. I focus on strengths, and encourage a toolbox of coping strategies to help each individual build on their own strengths to find their unique plan for wellness.

I value each individual's uniqueness and base each client's treatment plan and goals on their specific needs. My goal is to create an environment that feels safe, compassionate, and non judgemental in order for each client to get the most out of each session. My work is for each individual to feel heard, see themselves more clearly, and gain confidence.

I have a Master of Science in Counseling Degree with a specialty in school counseling, and am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Additionally, I am licensed as a school counselor in the states of Oregon and Arizona, and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon. I have done additional training in assessment and management of suicidality, EMDR, DBT Skills, trauma informed counseling practices, restorative practices, Bruce Perry's Neurosequential Model, Eating Disorders, LGBTQ youth and mental health, bullying prevention, anxiety and stress management, grief and loss, and trauma and crisis. I am a lifelong learner, and strive to continue on that path. I enjoy employing an eclectic therapeutic framework including EMDR, CBT, DBT, M-CBT, Gottman Method and motivational interviewing.
